About us

The story in the name

SNDY Tracks is pronounced Sandy Tracks. The name comes from where the work happens: the sandy tracks, creeks and headlands of the Central Coast, where young people discover what they are capable of, one adventure at a time.

Meet Sam Duke

Sam is a PACFA Registered Counsellor with seven years of experience working with young people, and the founder of SNDY Tracks. He holds a double specialisation in counselling and psychology alongside outdoor recreation qualifications, which is exactly the combination this work needs: someone equally at home in a clinical conversation and on a creek.

Supports are one on one, every time, delivered by people who know the participant. Small by design, so nobody is a number on a roster.

And the letters? SNDY also stands for Shaping New Discoveries in Youth. The mission in four words.

Why we exist

Why the outdoors?

Plenty of young people have sat in an office and stared at a wall while someone asked how they feel. For many of them, especially neurodiverse young people and those carrying trauma, anxiety, depression or hard life changes, that room is the problem. Movement, nature and shared activity lower the walls that a desk puts up. On the water or on a trail, the hard conversations happen sideways, naturally, while hands are busy. That is not a gimmick. It is the reason this works.

Challenge by Choice

Participants set their own limits and expand their capabilities at a comfortable pace. Personal agency first, always. The choice to step up, or not, belongs to the young person.

Person centred, trauma informed

Every support is built around the individual participant: their goals, their sensory needs, their pace. Clinical practice is experiential and somatic at its core, drawing on ACT and person centred therapy.

Where we work

Proudly Central Coast

Sessions start within about 30 minutes of Tuggerah, then head out to the beaches, creeks, lakes and bush reserves of the Central Coast. This is the country we know and work in every week. Real local places, close to home.
